My husband sent me a picture from Lowes the other day (mind you this was the first week in October). Stacks of Christmas lights and red storage bins screaming, "No, we are NOT even waiting after halloween this year, Christmas season starts now sucker!"
Ugh. Little bit of stress kicked in. After all this is my FIRST season in a brick and mortar shop in downtown Charleston and everything is unknown. Yes, I am hopeful, Surface has such great artists and unique handmade gifts in every price range. But what are the advantages to forget the Town Centers (malls) and come to John and Upper King St.?
Upper King has a jackpot, a bounty if you will of shops devoted to unique handmade goods. On my little block of John St there is handmade goods in almost every shop! Next door I have Filagree and around the corner Felice Designs both talented jewelers, Macaroon Boutique, a door down makes amazing French pastries and further down Dandy Boutique carries clothing as well as handmade Wedding accessories. Right around the corner on King St. is Art Mecca and Micheal Mitchell Gallery with a wide selection of artists in varied styles.
Small and unique business line upper King and John St. to get all your holiday shopping done while knowing you are supporting the small independent business owner.
